Description
This certificate program is designed to provide students with the basic skills and knowledge to prepare students to take the national certification examination administered by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) and begin work as as Surgical Technician. Students will be prepared to effectively support surgeons and provide excellent patient care. Students will learn the necessary tools to be successful surgical technicians. Objectives include the role of the surgical technician, preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative duties, understanding anatomy, physiology, and pathology, patient care and communication, workplace safety, infection control, asepsis and sterility techniques, identifying surgical instruments, anticipating the surgeon's needs, assisting with surgical procedures and becoming state and/or nationally certified as a surgical technician.
