Description
The UA-PTC Adult Education and Allied Health Nursing Assistant program is offered to meet industry demand. The program focuses on safe and effective student performance in a health-care setting. Emphasis is placed on specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to the Nursing Assistant duties as well as concepts pertaining to the psychosocial aspects of care giving. Participants engage in classroom theory hours related to the care of the patient, skills lab hours practicing specific skills of bed making, patient bathing, hygiene techniques, body mechanics, etc., and clinical hours in a long-term care setting providing hands-on care to the residents. Graduates are eligible to take the practical and computerized examinations that lead to Arkansas State Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA). The program consists of 80 classroom and 16 clinical hours. This program is approved by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education and the Office of Long-Term Care.

Courses are paid for through grant funding awarded to the UA-PTC Adult Education program by the Arkansas State Office of Adult Education and other outside sources (i.e. Dollar General Grant, WAGE Scholarships, etc.).
Refund Policy
Students are required to sign a reimbursement agreement in which all grant funds used to pay for training could be returned to the program if requirements are not met (i.e. non-course completion without notification or authorization).
