Description
The Arkansas Fire Training Academy (AFTA) is a division of Southern Arkansas University Tech (SAU Tech). This relationship allows for additional education opportunities for students who complete training through the AFTA.
This program is designed to allow for maximum transferability into a higher educational degree program once the Fire Science Management Associate of Science (A.S.) degree is obtained. Its target audience includes current and potential fire officers.
General Education requirements may be obtained via internet courses or through traditional delivery from SAU Tech or by transfer from an accredited higher education institution. The fifteen (15) hours of Fire Courses are offered through the AFTA. Credit for those hours of can be obtained by completing the Credit for Prior Learning Form and attaching the required documents as specified on the form. The cost for this credit is $25 per form submitted. Once the approved form and appropriate documents are received in the Registrar's Office, credit will be posted on the student transcript. The Fire Courses may be applied toward the Fire & Emergency Response Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree.
