Description
The one year certificate in Dental Assisting Technology is designed to train dental assistants with the knowledge to perform the technical duties in all areas of the modern dental office. The Dental Assisting Technology program is based on a science-oriented program of study and skill development offered at the post-secondary level that requires critical thinking, psychomotor skills, and ethical reasoning. The program consists of formal training needed to assist the dentist in the dental operatory, the laboratory, and the dental business office. Upon successful program completion, students are eligible to sit for the Dental Assisting National Board certification and to apply for registration with the Arkansas State Board of Dental Examiners. The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association. Students must provide recent COMPASS/ASSET/ACT scores that meet the minimum required skill level. All recommended Academic Strengthening (College Prep) courses must be completed prior to admission into the program. Students wishing to enter this program should discuss their career objectives with an advisor to ensure this is the appropriate track for them. Program applicants must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or have earned a GED. Students are admitted in the Dental Assisting Program based on selective admission criteria. Refer to Dental Assisting Information Guidelines located on the ANC Allied Health Website. This program of study includes special program fees beyond current tuition and college fees.
