Job Description
This is a full-time position with a blend of online and traditional face-to-face courses in the Department of Teacher Education. Qualified candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the field of education, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting student success in accordance with the mission, values, and policies of the A-State Educator Preparation Program. Faculty carry out student supervision, offer practical experience, perform service to their respective department, and uphold standards of the University through shared governance. This position ensures that candidates meet program expectations, develop effective instructional practices, and demonstrate professional dispositions aligned with state and institutional standards. Qualified candidates will be joining dynamic faculty who are committed to excellent teacher preparation and partnerships with public schools.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in a variety of capacities and modalities delivering quality instruction in education courses for the Elementary, Secondary, and/or professional education undergraduate and graduate level programs. Other responsibilities include program coordination, data collection, accreditation and program reporting, mentoring, and serving the university and school community.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in development and coordination of the MAT A-State Online (AOS) Teacher Education program.
- Teach assigned online and on-campus courses in accordance with approved curriculum and departmental guidelines.
- Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, class discussions, assignments, and learning activities.
- Develop course materials and assignments and follow course syllabi to ensure alignment with program standards.
- Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Supervise teacher candidates during their clinical placements in partner schools.
- Support mentor teachers and serve as a liaison between the university and school sites.
- Evaluate candidate performance using program rubrics and assessment tools.
- Serve as an academic mentor to teacher education candidates, assist students in following program checklists, monitoring academic progress, and ensuring completion of all  required coursework.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
- Utilize appropriate instructional technology, including learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas and Student Learning & Licensure (SL&L).
- Comply with institutional policies, procedures, and academic standards.
- Participate in required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as assigned.
