Job Description

Rocket Software, Inc. is looking to fill a Manager, Software Engineering position reporting to Rogers, Arkansas (May telecommute part of time from home residence within Rogers, AR metropolitan area). Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent accepted) in computer science or a related engineering field and 10 years’ progressively responsible experience in an IT-related occupation.  Experience must include the following specific experience and skills:

• 10 years’ experience in test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Pytest, TestComplete and API testing tools like Postman
• 7 years’ multi-platform testing and DevOps, deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins, GitLab CI, Bitbucket Pipelines, JFrog, and IBM Cloud deployment flows
• 7 years’ multi-platform development and test experience in at least 3 of these platforms, IBMi (must), Linux, Unix, Solaris, Mac, Windows
• 7 years’ experience in IBMi product development and testing, with expertise in CL, RPG, PASE environment, DB2, and system-level QA
• 5 years’ hands-on experience in DevSecOps practices, including source code change management, multi-platform deployment (including IBMi), approval workflow implementation, compliance enforcement, and integration of security scanning tools (e.g., SAST/DAST) into end-to-end CI/CD pipelines
• 5 years’ leading geographically distributed teams across North America, Asia, and/or Europe, with proven success managing delivery across time zones and cultures
• 5 years’ hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test solutions for IBMi, including 5250 green-screen, database, API, and PASE script-based testing
• 5 years’ scripting ability using Python for automation, test utilities, and data validation tasks
• 5 years’ in Agile development methodologies and managing testing in fast-paced, iterative release environments
• Proven leadership in IBMi platform modernization, including tool migration, DevOps integration, and hybrid cloud enablement
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, able to work cross-functionally with product, development, and support teams

The Manager, Software Engineering will oversee the end-to-end delivery of complex product lines within the Rocket Software portfolio, with a strong focus on IBMi platform modernization, cross-platform quality engineering, DevOps transformation and global test automation orchestration. This role is responsible for a globally distributed team of software and quality engineers and serves as a strategic leader driving IBMi automation, test automation, continuous integration, and multi-platform modernization efforts across IBMi, Linux, Unix, and cloud environments.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge of the IBMi ecosystem with modern development practices, cross-platform delivery expertise, proven experience in leading enterprise-grade product transformation initiatives, with a strong track record of architecting and delivering scalable IBMi automation solutions that measurably enhance software quality, operational efficiency, and release velocity.

Lead the design and implementation of IBMi software modernization initiatives, including DevOps pipeline alignment, toolchain upgrades, and open platform integration. Oversee the development and testing of new features, defect resolution, release planning, and customer support responsiveness. Architect automation solutions across multiple OS platforms (IBMi, Linux, Unix, Windows, MacOS, HP, Solaris) to improve software quality and time-to-market. Drive implementation of test coverage, code quality metrics, and modernization KPIs. Directly manage a cross-functional global team, fostering collaboration across geographies and time zones. Conduct design and code review meetings, ensuring quality, compliance, and innovation. Align technical execution with evolving customer and product roadmap requirements. Own the DevOps pipeline and QA architecture, ensuring CI/CD, change management, and test automation are embedded into the development lifecycle. Own and evolve key DevOps toolchains including Jenkins, GitLab, Bitbucket, JFrog, Jira Cloud, and IBM Cloud platforms. Define and enforce automated regression suites and continuous validation strategies. Build and scale software and QA teams in key locations. Lead onboarding, mentoring, and capability development of junior and senior engineers. Promote a culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous learning. Implement and enforce company-wide software engineering and QA standards. Champion agile development practices (Scrum, SAFe) and ensure documentation, audit readiness, and regulatory alignment. Drive innovation planning and future-state test strategy aligned to business goals.
