Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Class A CDL Driver to support our heavy civil construction operations. This position is responsible for operating dump trucks and heavy haul equipment, including lowboy trailers, to transport construction materials and heavy equipment to and from job sites. Candidates should have experience working around heavy construction equipment and be comfortable operating in active job site environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A CDL vehicles, including dump trucks and tractor-trailer combinations
- Transport heavy construction equipment using lowboy trailers
- Haul materials such as dirt, rock, and aggregate to and from job sites
- Load, secure, and unload heavy equipment in compliance with DOT and company safety standards
- Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report mechanical issues
- Work closely with foremen, operators, and field supervisors to coordinate equipment transport
- Maintain accurate driver logs and documentation
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safety policies
- Assist with general site tasks when transportation duties are complete
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL with acceptable driving record
- Experience operating dump trucks and hauling heavy equipment
- Experience with lowboy / heavy haul trailers strongly preferred
- Knowledge of load securement and equipment tie-down procedures
- Ability to work safely around heavy civil construction operations
- Willingness to travel and stay overnight when required
- Ability to work extended hours during peak construction season
Preferred Experience
- Heavy highway, bridge, or heavy civil construction industry experience
- Familiarity with transporting excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, and rollers
- Basic mechanical knowledge of trucks and trailers
