Job Description

Position Summary:

Academic Success Coach: the primary point of contact for a select group of students admitted through the Transition Studies program. The Academic Success Coach will motivate, advise, and assist with retention efforts from enrollment through graduation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide student support from enrollment through graduation
• Serve as primary academic advisor until students declare majors
• Mentor, motivate, & work to resolve barriers to student success 
• Work collaboratively with colleges and departments to ensure student success
• Teach FYE courses 
• Track student progress
• Provide career prep and planning
• Identify at-risk students & facilitate needed support 
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of computer programs and systems

Ability to advise and counsel students

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

Other:

Please note: all position postings close at 12:00 A.M. CST on the position closing date

Must develop good working relationships with service areas on campus and work well with faculty in Transition Studies

Occasional work other than normal office hours and occasional in-and-out-of-state travel may be required

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, College Student Personnel Services, Education or a related field
