Job Description

Summary/Objective: Produces machined parts by operating CNC machines that have been set up and proved out by first piece inspection, troubleshooting tool paths and quality of tool, maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

 

Key Job Elements: This position will require all the following but is not limited to this list only:

  • Setting up CNC machines with multiple vises and custom fixturing for multi operation CNC programs.
  • Setting up precision tooling with custom parameters using the job specific tool list.
  • Operating the CNC during the first run with extreme caution ensuring the program runs safely with no potential of crashing the equipment or endangering yourself & other employees.
  • Adjusting parameters and troubleshooting at the CNC to ensure quality and accuracy, meeting blueprint requirements before sending the FPI part to Inspection for approval.
  • Using calibrated inspection equipment and certified tools to verify component accuracy.
  • Ensuring each machine has the next scheduled job completely prepared and ready to set up.
  • Preparing future jobs by dispatching and cutting material, setting up all tooling, printing blueprints, load programs to thumb drive and locating any fixtures or specific work holding. 
  • Uses time management skills efficiently; Completing other tasks while the machine is running.
  • Keeping Cell phone use to a minimum and staying focused on creating high precision aircraft components.
  • Understanding component jobs, blueprints, and all instructions on setup sheet.
  • Maintain communication among work shifts by documenting specific loading instructions, adjustments to the program and possible issues.
  • Maintains specifications by taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Completing preventive maintenance and documenting in maintenance logs; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; requesting repairs to management.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Maintains a FOD FREE, safe, and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations including no CELL PHONE, food, or drink in designated area.
  • Follows all applicable documents to standards and regulations.
  • Keeps workspace clean and organized.
  • Uses M1 shop floor entry to track progress during work as applicable.
  • Follows guidelines and policies in the GSI handbook.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Whatever it takes to produce quality & invest in those around you!
