Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT/PROCESS IMPROVEMENT MANAGER (CI/PI) will be responsible for leading cross-functional initiatives that improve speed, quality, cost-to-serve, and predictability across operations and enabling functions.  This role builds and executes a practical CI roadmap, partners closely with Operations leadership (including the VP of Operations) and functional leaders, and ensures improvements are adopted and sustained through standard work, change leadership, and KPI ownership. The CI/PI Manager Currently manages one direct report and is expected to help scale CI capability and capacity over time as the department expands.

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and execute a continuous improvement strategy and prioritized roadmap aligned to business goals and operational priorities.
  2. Establish and run a CI operating rhythm (intake, scoping/charters, prioritization, governance, benefits tracking, sustainment checks).
  3. Analyze processes and workflows to identify improvement opportunities, waste reduction, standardization, and optimization.
  4. Lead cross-functional improvement projects end-to-end (define ? analyze ? improve ? control), ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget.
  5. Use data-driven approaches to establish baselines, track KPIs, and measure both impact and sustainability of improvement initiatives.
  6. Partner with Operations leaders and stakeholders to ensure initiatives are tied to measurable outcomes (cycle time, defects/rework, SLA/service levels, cost-to-serve, capacity, customer experience).
  7. Lead and facilitate change management for process improvements (stakeholder alignment, communications, training support, adoption measurement).
  8. Coach and train leaders and employees on CI tools and methods (A3/problem solving, root cause analysis, Kaizen facilitation, standard work, visual management).
  9. Build and maintain reporting mechanisms (dashboards/scorecards, project status, benefits realization) and provide clear, executive-ready updates on progress, risks, and decisions needed.
  10. Maintain documentation of process changes (process maps, SOPs, controls) and implement sustainment mechanisms (control plans, audit/check cadence, KPI owners).
  11. People leadership: manage and develop the CI/PI Coordinator; set priorities, provide coaching, and build repeatable playbooks/standards that enable future team growth.
  12. PERFORMS OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Lean / Continuous Improvement frameworks (PDCA/DMAIC), process mapping/value stream mapping, KPI design and benefits/financial impact tracking, and sustainment controls (standard work, SOPs, control plans).
  • Ability to influence without authority, lead change management and drive adoption, communicate executive-ready updates, coach/train teams on CI tools, and manage/develop a direct report (CI/PI Coordinator).
  • Skilled in facilitation and cross-functional leadership (workshops/Kaizens), structured problem solving and root cause analysis, and data-driven decision making.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Operations, IT, Analytics, or related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
5+ years of experience in continuous improvement / process improvement / operational excellence, including leading cross-functional initiatives.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent demonstrated experience leading multiple structured improvement projects with measured outcomes.
Demonstrated record of measurable improvements (examples: cycle time reduction, rework/defect reduction, improved SLA attainment, cost savings/capacity release).
Strong working knowledge of Lean/CI tools (value stream/process mapping, 5 Whys, fishbone, standard work, Kaizen, visual management).
Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data into decisions (Excel required; BI/reporting tools strongly preferred).
Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including influence without direct authority.
Willingness to work onsite and travel up to ~20%.

 

Six Sigma Requirement

Required: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent demonstrated experience leading multiple structured improvement projects with measured outcomes.

Acceptable alternative: Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt with strong project outcomes and commitment to achieve Green Belt within 12 months of hire.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt 
Experience building/running an improvement pipeline. 
Experience with change management practices (adoption planning, training strategy, resistance management).
Experience in service operations / field operations / multi-site environments.
Familiarity with process documentation and project tracking tools (Visio/Lucidchart; Smartsheet/Monday/Jira or similar).
Comfort partnering with IT on technology-enabled improvements (workflow, automation, reporting) while remaining accountable for business outcomes.
