Job Description

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the supervisor, the Mortgage Servicing Investor Claims Specialist 1 is responsible for claims processing including documentation production, reconciliation of loan level balances, investor/insurer claims submission and tracking. The incumbent balances investor and/or insurer claims and facilitates disputes with appropriate investors and/or insurers, as well as, documenting actions appropriately. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the monitoring and processing of the investor/insurer claims proceeds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Prepare and submit claims for specified investors per investor/insurer/government guidelines.Monitor claim payment by appropriate party.
  2. Maintain tax, insurance, HOA and any additional billing requirements per investor/insurer/government guidelines.
  3. Reconcile disallowed claim payment amounts and disputes with appropriate investor, insurer or government entity requesting reimbursement or refunds.
  4. Perform daily data maintenance for use of Asset Recovery claim reports and audits to monitor actions, timeliness, claim payments, supplemental claims and for updating various claim tracking statuses, as well as, the claims tracking system. Obtain necessary documentation and provide clarification on investor reports as applicable.
  5. Prepare charge-off memos for expenses deemed non-recoverable and/or non-reimbursable from the investor/insurer.
  6. Document all actions taken relative to each file and maintain system coding necessary to identify alerts or special messages regarding claims.
  7. Review all mail, faxes and emails and respond in an accurate and timely manner.
  8. Work with and maintain positive relations with borrowers, investors, outside vendors, realtors, bank associates, attorneys and others.
  9. Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, regulations, and the bank's BSA/AML Program, as applicable to your job duties. This includes but is not limited to; complete compliance training and adhere to internal procedures and controls; report any known violations of compliance policy, laws, or regulations and report any suspicious customer and/or account activity.
