About the Role
The LTL Freight Audit & Pay Lead (AP/AR Lead)will oversee the resolution of all financial transitions centered accounts payables and receivables for the managed LTL Brokerage. They will be responsible for prioritizing, resolving, and improving the financial processes that do not process systematically today. They will serve as a liaison to our Account Managers, and a cross-functional SME between Ops, AP/AR, our customers & carrier partners.
The ideal candidate for this role should have freight and financial operations capabilities and excellent time-management and organizational habits. It's also critical they understand basic transportation pricing contracts, common rating methods, accessorial application and BOL requirements.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Monitor and maintain acceptable levels in TMSF financial ques. This includes working through invoices/billing discrepancies on their own, and training our account managers to resolve.
- Identify the root cause of reoccurring payment/receivable exceptions.
- Act as a primary point of contact for carrier's financial inquires including, but not limited to, timeliness of payment, status, methods to receive pay. Make recommendations to improve carrier experience based off your knowledge of our/their capabilities (Triumph Pay, ACH, EDI, etc).
- Understand what makes our customer's unique from an accounts receivable perspective (reference numbers, paperwork, payment terms etc) and work to continuously improve the timeliness and automation associated with receiving payment.
- Create, run and improve reporting capabilities that tracks our financials.
- Identify and implement process improvements to continually raise the bar of execution & automation
- Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to onboard new accounts and execute on established business
- Communicate across the organization, engaging with peers in every department to improve service, streamline processes, and elevate the shipper experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years transportation industry or financial related experience
- Proven track record of managing processes and ability to hold teams accountable to hitting metrics
- LTL transportation invoicing experience
- Strong understanding of accounts payable and receivable cycles.
- Detail-oriented with a knack for identifying discrepancies and resolving them efficiently.
- Proficient in analyzing aging reports, payment patterns, and financial data.
- Capable of streamlining processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Customer/Carrier facing experience is preferred.
- Understanding customer/carrier contracts.
