JOB SUMMARYKutak Rock LLP seeks a Litigation Paralegal in its Fayetteville office. This position will work with and support multiple attorneys and staff members within the litigation department of the Fayetteville and Rogers offices. This role is ideal an experienced paralegal who enjoys working in busy civil litigation practice This position is a full-time, in-office position, Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform legal and nonlegal research
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, memoranda, and correspondence
- Assist with case management, strategy, and progression
- Assist attorneys with deposition preparation including preparing witness question outlines and compiling the necessary exhibits to be offered during the deposition
- Assist with all aspects of the discovery phase including preparing discovery requests and discovery objections and responses, issuing all types of subpoenas, and coordinating depositions
- Assist in the gathering, review, and production of documents during the discovery phase of litigation
- Collect, organize, and review medical records
- Prepare for and attend depositions when requested
- Prepare summaries of depositions, documents and medical records
- Assist in trial preparation by preparing trial and exhibit notebooks, preparing direct and cross examinations, and coordinating the necessary travel arrangements and various resource needs for trial
- Assist at trial, if needed
- Handle accounting responsibilities, including tracking billable hours and expenses
- Knowledge of healthcare and or medical malpractice litigation procedures
- Ability to organize large quantities of information
- Ability to work well under the pressures of deadlines and prioritize assignments
- Ability to thrive on challenges of fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team and independently or unsupervised
- Excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle documents and other information with confidentiality and discretion
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an aptitude to interface with attorneys, clients, staff, and firm visitors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- High school diploma (or equivalent) required, Bachelor’s degree and/or successful completion of an accredited legal assistant or paralegal program given preference
- 3+ years of paralegal experience required, experience in a litigation practice preferred
- Experience in healthcare law, medical malpractice, or medical litigation in either a law firm or legal department
