The Patient Care Technician (PCT)performs patient care tasks and duties which do not require a license. The PCT is a trained member of the unit based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary patient management team inH7Medical Oncology Unit.
H7Medical Oncology Unithas 30 private rooms and provides state of the art therapies to a wide range of medical oncology patients and family medicine patients. Practicing in this environment allows the RN to develop skills in chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, management of a range of IV central access devices, management of a variety of symptoms associated with the disease process and/or treatment, and development of skills in emotional support and palliative care. This area also provides learning opportunities in all areas of medical-surgical nursing. A strong interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, and social workers support the patient in their various therapies.Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma/GED.
Successful completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire.
