Job Description
SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Grant Writer will be responsible for conducting full range of activities including researching, planning, developing, composing, illustrating, writing persuasively, and editing required to submit, and manage grant proposals to private, corporate, and governmental sources. Identify, define, and develop funding sources to support AFMC’s diversification plan. Develop measurable project goals and objectives while monitoring progress towards achievement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for conducting a full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to public and private sources.
2. Research and identify new public and private funding prospects to match company priorities.
3. Maintain database of funding sources. Maintain records in database including pending grants and contracts, grant tracking and reporting.
4. Maintain and implement funding calendar activities, including cultivation activities.
5. Engage with program officers at organizations to solicit invitations to submit proposals.
6. Generate proposals and supporting documents in response to solicitations.
7. Edit and proofread text of grants, manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, and other material, including recommending reorganization for better flow, rewording for clarity, checking bibliography, verifying concordance between figures and text, suggesting new figures, and editing to comply with APA or other style guidelines.
8. Research a variety of topics and information for operations staff (create/write sections as templates or for single use). Utilize online resources that support the proposal and submission process that may also be used in grants, articles, and other material.
9. Consult with staff to provide technical advice in proposal presentation and dissemination of information that can be used in the grant proposal revision process.
10. Provide stewardship to current donors, including regular written updates (newsletters etc) to donors.
11. Adhere to format, content, and style guidelines, considering usability and ensuring accuracy, consistency and quality.
12. Follow AFMC, state and federal protocols regarding data confidentiality/security and HIPAA compliance.
13. Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or related field
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Five (5) years’ experience in grant writing for federal, corporate, foundation and/or professional agencies with a proven track record. Advanced knowledge of grant application and submission processes. research techniques and analyzing diverse data knowledge of grant application process, scoring criteria and funding cycles, experience with non-profit foundations.
Desirable: Experience in health care industry
