In this role, you’ll be responsible for a team working on some of the most complex projects in the area. You’ll have the opportunity to exercise your technical skills, grow our business in the region, and develop top talent in our field as a prominent leader in our organization.

The Department manager is crucial for the team’s success. You will supervise ongoing projects, ensure timely execution, and adhere to client requirements and company standards. As a Materials Department manager, you will need to be skilled in management, client development, and technical skills in construction materials consulting.

The Rogers, AR office is located in Northwest Arkansas. NWA is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the United States. Home to Walmart, Tysons and JB Hunt Trucking, NWA is best known for its outdoor amenities. Most people enjoy the 100’s of miles of mountain bike trails, kayaking or fishing. The AMP (Arkansas Music Pavilion) regularly sells out concerts and Crystal Bridges Museum is home to some of the world’s most famous art.

Daily Duties

+ Responsible for preparation of proposals and cost estimates with varying degrees of complexity.

+ Directs the short-range business development activities of all department personnel to ensure that adequate fees are available to support the manpower on the payroll.

+ Plan for and execute the recruitment, selection, training, mentoring, and development of all employees in the department.

+ Prepare and execute the department annual business plan.

+ Oversee and manage the success of the key department metrics of revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability.

+ Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with company risk policies.

+ Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.

+ Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices. Engage our quality team on projects at their onset.


+ Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practiced by the Firm including Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology and 5 years’ practice experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years’ related experience.

+ Master’s degree or PhD preferred.

+ Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certification:

+ Certification or licensure in field of expertise.
