We are currently seeking a Process Engineer to join our team of talented employees! This role provides chemical engineering/production operations support for a dynamic and rapidly growing manufacturing unit. Scope : The position serves as a technical resource in the chemical engineering discipline in support of manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include the definition of improvements and implementation of actions to resolve problems and optimize results in the areas of product quality, yields, energy, operating costs, development & execution of small capital projects and new product introductions. The position reports to the Operations Manager and interfaces regularly with R&D, project engineers, chemical operators and maintenance personnel to jointly develop process and operational alternatives and improvements and to implement solutions to problems. The role will also provide process development support and serve as the resident Operations expert in the chemistry of the processes in the assigned manufacturing unit, with support from on-site PhD R&D chemists. The position requires the understanding of and compliance with all safe work practices and environmental regulations in a PSM environment, including the structured execution of all Plant policies regarding changes to a production process. Principal Accountabilities:+ Apply engineering expertise, analyze data for trends, and identify process & operational improvements.
+ Drive Improvements, process optimizations, and improved process control to enhance product quality, yields, energy and other cost improvements.
+ Serve as the manufacturing lead for the introduction and/or relocation of new manufacturing processes
+ Conceive, design and install small and medium size capital projects.
+ Provide chemical Operators with understanding of the process and safety related procedures, including conducting classroom training.
+ Establish systems to gather data and monitor results to develop root causes of problems or to ensure a process modification will yield the desired results.
+ Apply sound root cause analysis techniques and creative alternatives to technical related problems.
+ Be knowledgeable of and comply with all safety and environmental regulations associated with the related processes and any required modifications.
+ To maintain effective communications and working relationships with operators, maintenance, project engineering, contractor, administrative support, and R&D personnel.
+ Provide technical support for process start-ups and optimizations as necessary.
Qualifications/Requirements:+ BS in Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 2-3 years of chemical manufacturing experience preferred.
+ High energy and highly flexible with demonstrated ability to excel in a dynamic environment.
+ Ability to work with minimal supervision and to prioritize and manage a broad range of accountabilities.
+ Experience in process design and improvement including process trouble shooting and debottlenecking related to improving efficiency, capability, and safety.
+ Experience in developing material and energy balances to optimize yields and usages of raw materials and energy resources.
+ Experience in designing and installing small and medium sized capital projects.
+ Experience and capability to manage minor DCS (Delta V and APACS) programming and/or CHEMCAD or similar process modeling would be desirable attributes.
+ Prior experience working with R&D chemists and QC lab personnel towards process development SPC and quality management activities would be advantageous.
+ Exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing with knowledge of cGMP a definite plus.
+ Experience in writing technical reports including developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOP).
