Overview:
Provides assistance in all dietary functions, such as basic food preparation, set-up and clean-up of meals, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Services Supervisor, the Food Service Tech I will be trained in at least one functional position/station. Position/stations include but not limited to the following, Trayline, Expeditor/ Checker, Meal Tray Runner, Dishwashing, Floor Stock/Inventory, Cashier/Retail and Grill/Sandwich station. These positions/stations include a variety of tasks such as: assembling patient trays according to prescribed diet, following correct food handling and safety procedures, assisting in dish room and ware washing duties, preparation and delivery of between meal feedings, preparation of floor stock and strategic supply items, answering phones, utilizing department specific programs for patient meal service and/or retail service, functioning as a Nutrition Services department representative in patient care areas, educating patients on meal processes, delivering meals, direct patient and/or customer interaction, and any other duties as assigned. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications:
Experience: Experience in food services preferred.
Preferred Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Certifications: Food Handlers or Serv Safe certification preferred.
Other: Must be able to read and understand basic instructions. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Interest in learning new skills and growth of your role in the department. Individual must be able to use a computer for annual mandatory tests. The physical demands described here are the representative of the minimums that must be met by an employee to perform all essential functions of the job. Most physical demands are below, plus: Minimal: kneeling or crouching, lift floor to desk height and carrying of < 37 lbs, Push/pull < 12 lbs force, pinch grip Occasional: balancing, gripping < 40 lbs Continuous: hand coordination.
