The College of Arts, Sciences and Education (CASE) at Texas A&M University – Texarkana invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Instructor of Composition to join our faculty beginning the 2023-2024 academic year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The selected candidate will teach a 5/4 load in courses across our undergraduate composition curriculum, including our linked first-year writing (ENGL 0399) and Composition I (ENGL 1301) sequence, Composition II (ENGL 1302), Technical Writing and Communication, with opportunities to teach advanced writing in the upper-division.
We also desire a colleague who will engage in service work through collaborations within the writing program and/or department, including, but not limited to, curricular updates, program assessment, and student success initiatives. Further, as a member of the department, they will participate and have a voice in faculty meetings, take part in institutional faculty development opportunities, and participate in assessment requirements as part of the Texas Core Curriculum. Instructor-rank faculty do not have scholarship requirements. Additional summer teaching may be available but is not guaranteed nor required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
+ Earned Master’s degree in English, Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, or English Education (with at least 18 SCH in graduate-level English coursework), and
+ At least one year of teaching experience in a higher education setting or dual credit courses.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Earned doctorate degree in English; Writing Studies; Rhetoric & Composition; or English Education (with at least 18 SCH in graduate English coursework; ABD acceptable)
+ Experience working with developing and underprepared writers at both the first year and advanced levels.
+ Experience teaching writing beyond traditional, academic forms and genres.
