The nature of this position is “hyrid” and may be domiciled in on of the following locations: Little Rock, AR; Clinton, MS; New Orleans, LA; Woodlands, TX.*
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
The training specialist will work with field personnel to understand and analyze performance needs to determine appropriate training solutions. Provide safety, operations and maintenance training services to Transmission personnel and solicit and respond to trainee needs. Training services include development of training courses, teaching courses, communicating with customers to define and prioritize their needs, developing plans and initiatives to meet customers’ needs. Develop and teach simulator training on substation and transmission equipment. May also be involved in curriculum development depending upon role assignment within team.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Work with customers to determine needs and priorities and develop plans and initiatives to meet customer needs related to maintenance, and other technical training for the Transmission organization
+ Research and analyze, maintenance, and other technical training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultations with managers, instructors, or customer representatives
+ Conduct needs and strategic learning assessments to develop the basis for new curriculum development or for updating existing curricula for Transmission maintenance, and other technical personnel
+ Oversee, schedule, deliver, teach and/or facilitate training courses, including simulator training on transmission equipment
+ Develops and edits classroom training materials and provides input into overall training content in order to provide the most relevant training to meet the training needs
+ Solicits and responds to feedback regarding content, delivery, training department processes etc. related to training delivery
+ Applies evaluation models (such as Kirkpatrick’s model of evaluation) to assure highest level of training effectiveness and analyzes existing training delivery to determine the appropriate method for future delivery
+ Develop or update training courses and certification processes for new and existing maintenance, and other technical personnel in Transmission
+ Applies A.D.D.I.E. or other development models as required for all course development / maintenance projects, and maintains course history information
+ Converts traditional classroom-based learning content to other delivery systems, such as mobile or eLearning delivery when appropriate
+ Actively solicits feedback on programs and updates as needed; improves, training initiatives to improve training (learning) effectiveness
+ May be involved with collaborating with business partners to review and update Operating Procedures, Maintenance Procedures, and other documents as requested
+ Obtains technical reviews from content owners and ensures the accuracy of revisions to provide customers with the highest quality technical materials
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education:
+ Technical associate degree or equivalent utility experience(detailed below).
+ Preferred: B.S. Degree or an advanced degree
Minimum Experience:
+ Training Specialist: 6+ years of Transmission/Substation or other utility industry experience with the ability to deliver, produce and develop training course material without a degree, or 3+ years of experience with a degree
+ Sr Training Specialist: 8+ years of Transmission/Substation or other utility industry experience with the ability to deliver, produce and develop training course material without a degree, or 5+ years of experience with a degree
+ Preferred:
+ Experience in developing and administering training programs
+ Transmission/substation mechanical or relay experience
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Strong safety culture
+ Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deliverables in a fast-paced environment
+ Good interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously with coworkers and customers
+ Ability to work with multiple levels of the organizational structure
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multi-projects simultaneously
+ Ability to travel to support field locations in Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana
+ Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
+ Working knowledge of and/or the ability to learn to work with a LMS and SharePoint
+ Strong substation mechanical or relay based knowledge
