Job Description:

CDM Smith is seeking a mid to senior level Engineer to support various short-term and long-term Federal projects nationwide.

The final candidates will work in a two-person teams to implement the Marine Corp’s Utilities Infrastructure and Condition Assessment Program (UICAP) at Marine Corp Bases by completing an inventory and condition assessment of utility assets. You will apply broad professional knowledge of engineering principles to solve specific client needs. The role also includes communicate effectively with professionals from a variety of functional backgrounds. This work is performed in a team environment under limited supervision.

Job Duties:

- Utilizing a Dell Ruggedized Toughbook, you will use an application created in-house by CDM Smith to collect basic attributes about the asset (manufacturer, model, serial number, condition, etc.), and some unique specification attributes for the equipment (GPM, HP, KVA, etc.).

- Use the GIS in the application to relate the spatial attributes of the feature to the asset record, print and attach a barcode to the asset, and take some photos of the asset.

- Applies the knowledge of engineering laws and principles by performing appropriate maintenance, investigation, functioning, planning, setting up, and assessment of the engineering procedures, structures and tools and the assets that comprise them.

- Executes investigative processes to examine and assess the functionality, practicability, activity, and patterns of the engineering structures, elements, and instruments.

- Monitors progress and prepares/creates/compiles technical reports and/or project status reports.

- Conducts on site investigations and analyzes relevant data including maps, reports, tests, drawings and other as required.

- Complies with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety etc. and delivers technical files and other technical documentation as required.

- Develops, trains, and educates junior engineers, guides the technical direction, and serves as a liaison with clients.

- Performs other duties as required.

- 5 years of relevant experience.

- Domestic travel is required.

Skills and Abilities:

- Must be a U.S. citizen.

- Able to pass a federal background check for access to Marine Base locations.

- Experience with utilities (ex. water, wastewater, natural gas) and the assets that comprise them is preferred.

- For OCONUS assignments, a valid US passport is required (Expiration greater than 6 months from date of travel).

- Position requires field work and movement in all weather conditions across all terrains and in a variety of indoor locations including compressed air plants, utility rooms, etc.

- Demonstrates technical proficiency and design application knowledge.

- Strong organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

- Excellent attention to detail.

- Familiar and comfortable to work on computers/tablets/phones.

- Strong writing and oral communication skills.

- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders.

- Good interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships with colleagues, customers, and partners.

Background Check and Drug Testing Information:

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
