Summary About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states – Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot’s enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Assigns work to employees and provides technical direction. Performs pre-shop analysis of major systems and components of vehicles. Visually checks over vehicle to identify missing parts of deficiencies prior to release for inspection. Uses a variety of hand tools and measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and torque wrenches. Plans use of subordinate workers’ equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Performs rebuild/repair, assembly, adjustment, troubleshooting, and applicable functional test of major mechanical systems and components for heavy mobile vehicles. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties such as explaining the proper tools, equipment, or parts that is required for the repairs. Demonstrate how to interpret guides such as blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals to perform functions of parts or systems; provide quality control review on performed repairs on heavy mobile equipment vehicles; and illustrate troubleshooting analysis to diagnose malfunctions. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
