Role Description

Ensures all pressure equipment is fabricated, operated, inspected, maintained, altered and repaired in a manner that provides mechanical integrity conforming to required regulations and standards. Determines and reports the condition of plant fixed equipment using visual and ultrasonic inspection methods. Maintains and adjusts the inspection equipment to highest level of repair and performance. Will be the site resource for asbestos identification and sample gathering. Will work in Maintenance Software (eMaint) to maintain and update inspection frequencies of equipment and related asset information. Must have working knowledge of the mechanical integrity section of PSM. Principal Accountabilities:

+ Inspections:

+ Provide site coordination to assure that all inspections performed are completed in accordance with approved Mechanical Integrity procedures.

+ Cultivate relationships with local inspection contractors.

+ Maintain inspection schedules.

+ Work with Maintenance Planner on getting inspection plans and schedules set up in eMaint.

+ Work with Planner, Supervisor, and operations to schedule and perform inspections. Ensure that inspections receive the highest priority for shutdowns, so that if deficiencies are found that must be corrected, the repairs can be made within the time allotted for the equipment downtime.

+ Issue SAP notifications; provide required purchasing paperwork (requisitions, Goods Receipts); ensure that invoicing is completed for timely payment.

+ Monitor/audit inspections to ensure quality work and maintain contractor efficiency.

+ Maintain facility Mechanical, Instrumentation and Electrical inspection database. Keep all calibration certificates current.

+ Coordinate with I&E Specialist in developing and preparing PM schedules for Process Critical Alarms and Safety Interlocks.

+ Coordinate pressure relief valve PMs and repairs. For turnarounds where multiple relief valves are removed, ensure that each valve and its installation location are correctly tagged.

+ Maintain certification records for all personnel performing inspections.

+ Maintain site copies of inspection procedures for all outside inspection contractors.

+ Ensure that all nameplate and equipment data collected during inspections is verified and updated in the appropriate database(s).

+ Ensure that all inspection reports are thorough and accurate. Approve inspection reports and file in equipment files.

+ Assist Maintenance and Stores with quality assurance of maintenance materials.

+ Review and approve order spec sheets and requisitions for flexible hoses.

+ Inspect incoming hoses for tags, quality assurance reports when required, compliance with order specifications and quality of construction.

+ Schedule and ensure completion of inspections of incoming stores materials.

+ Arrange for Positive Material Identification (PMI) of parts and materials when required and/or requested.

+ Provide site coordination with Authorized Inspector for State Operating Certificate inspections for pressure vessels. Resolve issues with certificates.

+ Follow guidelines concerning safe work and good engineering practices as it relates to Inspection activities. Ability to comply with all employees, safety and environmental policies and regulations by conducting the following:

+ External Inspections on piping, pressure vessels, tanks, towers heat exchangers, and relief devices.

+ Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (External or Internal) on pressure vessels, columns, piping, tanks, and heat exchangers.

+ Internal Visual Inspections of Tanks and Pressure Vessels.

+ Creates piping isometric drawings indicating accurate locations of Ultrasonic Thickness Inspection points.

+ Will create basic equipment drawings capable of illustrating thickness testing locations.

+ Will assist the Planner/Scheduler with repair planning and material sourcing

+ Assist with Job Plan development.

+ Will assist Planner with creating Bills of Materials for Plant equipment

+ Equipment Deficiency Correction

+ Generates inspection reports with necessary repair recommendations and initiate corrective action.

+ Notify appropriate parties and initiate Job Plan development.

+ Provide site coordination for repairs, including assisting with selection of personnel to perform repairs (outside contractors – including ASME/ NBIC repairs, site personnel)

+ Provide support and oversight for repair activities, including determining materials of construction for repairs, supervising inspection activities, and for ASME/NBIC repairs, ensure that repair organization makes appropriate arrangements for the necessary inspections to meet code requirements.

+ Assist with the preparation and coordination of Job Plan development.

+ For ASME/ NBIC repairs:

+ Review and approve repair plans prepared by Code shop performing the repairs.

+ Provide site coordination for repairs, including assisting with selection of personnel to perform repairs (outside contractors – including ASME/ NBIC repairs, site personnel)

+ Provide support and oversight for repair activities, including determining materials of construction for repairs, supervising inspection activities, and for ASME/NBIC repairs, ensure that repair organization makes appropriate arrangements for the necessary inspections to meet code requirements.

+ Act as Pennakem Welding Coordinator.

+ Provide site coordination for repairs, including assisting with selection of personnel to perform repairs (outside contractors – including ASME/ NBIC repairs, site personnel)

+ Provide support and oversight for repair activities, including determining materials of construction for repairs, supervising inspection activities, and for ASME/NBIC repairs, ensure that repair organization makes appropriate arrangements for the necessary inspections to meet code requirements.

+ Ensure that repair organization has the appropriate and correct welding procedure(s) to perform the required repairs; ensure that personnel performing weld repairs have appropriate and current certification for the welding procedure(s) being used.

+ Reliability Support:

+ Preventative/ Predictive Maintenance:

+ Assist with development and preparation of PM procedures and schedules; and audit for compliance

+ Provide site coordination for rotating equipment PMs, including follow-up on deficiency corrections and filing of vibration reports.

+ Develop and maintain predictive maintenance analysis and follow-up on recommendations (i.e., vibration analysis data program)

+ Assist with Root Cause Failure Analysis

+ Monitor shift reports daily and attend planning meetings as required.

+ Take an active role in investigating equipment integrity and/or reliability issues reported.

+ Assist Maintenance Manager in developing, implementing and managing a reporting system for RCFAs and a tracking system for root cause recommendation follow-up and completion.

+ Other

+ The position will require basic computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and Vizio (Microsoft Training Available)

+ Self-directed, will require limited input on day-to-day activities from direct supervisor.

+ Will be expected to take and pass ASNT (American Society for Non-Destructive Testing) based training classes in Visual Inspection (VT) and Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UT).

+ Will be expected to take and pass a course for Asbestos Inspector Certification

+ Work in proximity of steam boilers, chemical processing equipment and electrical systems.

+ Work inside and outside under varying conditions.

+ The job occasionally requires overtime on weekends, nights and holidays.

+ Other duties as assigned or required.
