Role DescriptionDetermines and reports the condition of plant fixed equipment using visual, ultrasonic, and other inspection methods. Maintains electronic and other records to comply with Plant and Regulatory requirements and guidance. Maintains and adjusts the inspection frequency and specifics of equipment to ensure highest level of repair and performance. Coordinates across multiple functions and layers. Principal Accountabilities:
+ Conduct work activities in a manner that protects the safety and health of employees, visitors and the environment as established by company policies and procedures.
+ Follow guidelines concerning safe work and good engineering practices as it relates to Inspection activities. Ability to comply with all employee, safety and environmental policies and regulations.
+ External Inspections on piping, pressure vessels, tanks, towers heat exchangers, and relief devices.
+ Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (External or Internal) on pressure vessels, columns, piping, tanks, and heat exchangers.
+ Internal Visual Inspections of Tanks and Pressure Vessels.
+ Creates piping isometric drawings indicating accurate locations of Ultrasonic Thickness Inspection points.
+ Will create basic equipment drawings capable of illustrating thickness testing locations.
+ Works closely with the Planner/Scheduler and Operations Supervisors to schedule equipment availability for inspections.
+ Will assist the Planner/Scheduler with repair planning and material sourcing
+ Will assist Planner with creating Bills of Materials for Plant equipment
+ The position will require basic computer skills including; Word, Excel, Outlook and Vizio (Microsoft Training Available).
+ Generates inspection reports with necessary repair recommendations.
+ Will be the site resource for asbestos identification and sample gathering.
+ Will work in Maintenance Software to maintain and update inspection frequencies of above listed equipment and related asset information.
+ Self-directed, will require limited input on day to day activities from direct supervisor.
+ Will be expected to take and pass ASNT (American Society for Non-Destructive Testing) based training classes in Visual Inspection (VT) and Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UT).
+ Will be expected to take and pass a course for Asbestos Inspector Certification
+ Work in proximity of steam boilers, chemical processing equipment and electrical systems.
+ Work inside and outside under varying conditions.
+ The job occasionally requires overtime on weekends, nights and holidays.
+ Other duties as assigned or required.Qualifications/Requirements: Experience and Education (Candidate must possess a majority of the following skills)
+ High School diploma, proficient in math, written and spoken English.
+ 3-5 years Welding, Fitting or Millwright in a manufacturing environment experience required
+ Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
+ Experienced in Industrial Maintenance preferably as a Welder/FitterDesired Skills
+ Critical thinking – using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
+ Oral communication – talking to others to convey information effectively.
+ Prior mechanical inspection experience highly desirable
+ Written comprehension – the ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
+ Prior certification with ASNT is desirable but not required as training will be provided.Physical Requirements
+ Bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing ladders and stairs, balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing/walking for long periods of time, pushing, pulling, grasping, working at elevated heights, and heavy lifting.
+ Ability to work out of man lifts or man baskets and use safety harnesses.
+ Must be able to pass respirator fit testing
+ Must lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Must be physically able to enter equipment through minimum of 18" access nozzle.
+ Climb stairs as high as an eighth floor.
+ Climbs vertical steel ladders 35 to 40 feet above ground or landing level.
+ At times, climbs atop tanks, vessels, rail cars, etc.
