The Lab Production Assistant position is responsible for performing assigned manufacturing and laboratory support activities according to company policies, SOPs, and quality regulations. Assigned responsibilities can include labware cleaning and sterilization, buffer and media preparation, lab cleaning and stocking, environmental monitoring, and aseptic processes including tissue culture support and fill procedures. The candidate will work independently to complete all assigned tasks, completing and reviewing all required calculations and documents. The work is performed in a bioprocessing department supporting commercial manufacturing of IVD reagents requiring routine lifting and moving of vessels, tanks and equipment. The candidate must be able to execute assigned procedures in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment satisfying quality standards in accordance with customer satisfaction, cost, schedule, and ISO1345 regulations.
+ Perform glassware duties including labware and tank cleaning, labware sterilization, and labware stocking according to SOPs and batch records.
+ Operate sterilization equipment including autoclaves and dry heat ovens.
+ Perform buffer/media duties including weighing reagents, mixing buffer, filtering solution, measuring and recording pH and conductivity, completing and reviewing batch record.
+ Perform aseptic processing as assigned including tissue culture processes and filling procedures.
+ Perform routine laboratory maintenance and lab management including ordering of materials, cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment, cleaning lab area, environmental monitoring, and filling out proper paperwork.
+ Maintain accurate data sheets, records, and logs in compliance with SOPs, OSHA requirements, and quality system requirements.
+ Audit own paperwork daily for corrections, missing, and/or incomplete information.
+ Ensure adequate supply of lab reagents, lab auxiliary equipment, and cleaning supplies to complete daily assigned activities.
+ Retrieve controlled documents from document control software, review procedures, and ensure all equipment, reagents, and materials available prior to starting daily activities.
+ Generate and record all data and observations as required and complete all necessary calculations in compliance with company policies.
+ Immediately notify supervisor or manager of any deviation from written production document or SOP.
+ Independently complete all training as assigned and review/respond to all company correspondence as appropriate.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Ability to read, understand, and follow all company production procedures, SOPs and guidelines.
+ Understand and apply aseptic technique.
+ Must be self-starter, detailed oriented, organized and be able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
+ Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
+ General understanding of math and metric system. Must be able to convert between units of measurement and perform step by step arithmetic calculations.
+ Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality requirements.
+ Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
+ Exhibits problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Education and Experience:
+ High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in life science related subject welcomed.
+ Previous manufacturing or assembly experience in a quality regulated environment is preferred.
+ Previous experience operating industrial dishwashers, autoclaves, and dry heat ovens desirable.
+ Previous experience working in a laboratory setting desirable.
Requirements (Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands):
+ Primary work requirements include working in a regulated bioprocessing setting.
+ Ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs throughout the workday in a multi-location facility.
+ Must be able to routinely lift up to 40 lbs. during the work shift.
+ Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (face coverings, gloves, lab coats, etc.)
+ Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time, stoop, reach, push and pull carts throughout the course of the work shift.
+ Ability to concentrate, analyze, and solve complex issues throughout the day.
+ May be required to work outside of normal business hours including evenings and/or weekends to support business needs.
+ Must be able to adhere to applicable biosafety and chemical hygiene practices when on the manufacturing floor or in laboratories.
