The mission of the Department of Military is to provide a professional staff of Arkansas State Employees who help maintain and improve the readiness of Arkansas National Guard units through effective fiscal management of State Resources, Human Resource Management, and quality administration of Arkansas National Guard Programs.
This position will be responsible for the following:
- Install data, voice, video, and wireless networks.
-Assist in the design of data, voice, video, and wireless networks.
-Monitor data communications infrastructure within data center for potential problems. This includes HVAC, power, backup power and fire systems.
-Makes recommendations for upgrades to current data infrastructure in order to support new technology or customer requests. Provides an additional level of maintenance support for all communication network systems.
-Develop and maintain relationships with customers and vendors as a self motivated individual to provide the best possible solution to our customers.
-Supports core network infrastructure hardware and assist network operations team with equipment troubleshooting.
-Assist Infrastructure Senior IT Project Manager with design implementations.
-Proficient with the installation and termination of various types of data cabling, fiber optics, copper and power grounding..
-Travel to various statewide National Guard armories for data communications trouble tickets or installations of new equipment.
-Manage and maintain current infrastructure inventory and inform supervisor of material needs.
- Ability to install and maintain door lock hardware. Assist Physical Security Manager with physical key control.
-Communicate workload status and unplanned events with supervisor.
-Follow all State of Arkansas Department of Military operating procedures.
-Perform other duties as assigned
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
-In-state travel will be required, including overnight stays.
-Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, Virtal PC, Internet Browsers.
-Must be able to pass background check to abtain CAC and have a clean driving record.
-Preferred certification in the following: BISCI Standards, Network + and Security +. These are not a requirements.
-On-call status may be required.

Summary
The Network Analyst is responsible for maintaining and designing data, voice, video, and wireless networks, and providing additional level of maintenance support for network users. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Functions
Designs data, voice, video, and wireless networks and evaluates network management and monitoring products. Monitors all network systems for potential problems and implements new network projects. Makes recommendations for upgrades in order to support new technology or customer requests and provides an additional level of maintenance support for all network systems. Develops and maintains relationships with network users and vendors to provide best possible solution to customer needs. Supports core network hardware and software installations and changes and designs and supports internet content filtering solutions for customers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge in design, management, or troubleshooting a large data network or a large wireless network. Knowledge of network monitoring tools. Knowledge of data, voice, video, and wireless networks. Ability to communicate orally and in writing and provide assistance in resolving technical issues. Ability to read and comprehend technical documents to resolve problems.
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a associate’s degree in information technology, computer science, systems engineering, or a related area; plus two years of experience in data network operations/design or related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
