Role Description

Waste Management and Product Stewardship Manager role will provide expert guidance on the proper processes, procedures and documentation for the shipping, handling, and storage of waste to ensure compliance. This position is responsible for “owning” all programs related to regulated wastes including environmental standards, self-assessments, training, reporting, and compliance. As the Product Stewardship Manager, this role works as the liaison between commercial, legal, and technology representatives and serves ss the lead on the development and maintenance of regulatory management system requirements for addressing product compliance. Principal Accountabilities: Waste Management

+ Manages clean/hazardous waste generation, sorting, accumulation, storage, packaging, shipping.

+ Haz waste management risk identification, avoidance, mitigation and implementing best management practices.

+ Creates framework for and ensures implementation of best management practice (BMP) for documentation and maintenance of training records at program locations.

+ Coordination of Haz waste activities with other project functional areas to ensure awareness, alignment, and accountability.

+ Plans, coordinates, and manages hazardous waste management activities and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local hazardous waste management regulations, monitoring, inspections, and reporting.

+ Conduct facility wide compliance audits to include inspections of staging, accumulating and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance.

+ Procurement (including development of statements of work, acquiring, and evaluating proposals or estimates/quotes) of Haz waste subcontractors, in coordination with key project stakeholders and Subcontracts Managers.

Product Stewardship Manager

+ Key member of the EHS team that drives Product Stewardship with specific focus on Domestic and International Chemical Control Laws such as TSCA and REACh.

+ Supports product registrations and import and export compliance. Supports implementation and product labeling programs and raw material introduction programs.

+ Provides regulatory and technical advice to Technical and Sales for complex EHS regulatory and scientific matters.

+ Monitors and assesses potential emerging impacts and risks posed by changing global product regulatory and chemical control laws.

+ Works with the Commercial Group to ensure timely registration, notification or other reports are made with applicable governmental authorities.

+ Develops and maintains information on safety, health, and environmental hazards, intended uses and exposures for new and existing products to support risk characterization and product safety management.

+ Characterizes product risks based on information collected on hazards, intended uses, and exposures associated with the stages of a product’s lifecycle.

+ Communicates health, safety, and environmental measures to manage risk so that products can be designed, developed, improved, and safely used for their intended purposes.

+ Responds to customer inquiries regarding product regulatory compliance, use, disposal, and other product stewardship concerns.

+ Serves as lead for FIFRA compliance.

+ Serves as lead for Laboratory Safety Committee and assist with laboratory safety compliance and compliance to the Chemical Hygiene Plan.

Qualifications/Requirements: Experience and Education

+ Master’s or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in chemistry, life science or engineering.

+ Extensive knowledge of RCRA.

+ Experience managing a hazardous waste program.

+ Familiarity with regulatory status of large quantity generators.

+ Minimum of 10 years chemical industry experience in product safety or regulatory affairs.

+ Familiarity with REACH, TSCA, BPR, FIFRA, GHS/CLP and other Chemical Control Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, and in the chemical industry a plus.

+ Highly motivated, results driven with unyielding predisposition to detail, accuracy and clarity.

+ Ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
