Background & Purpose of the Job

The MSC/Grocery Department Advisorship – Manager for Walmart partners with the Team Lead to create objective strategic thought leadership, insights, and solutions to accelerate growth for Walmart across total MSC (Meals, Sauces, Condiments, and International Foods) – Center Store Grocery. The manager will support the Team Lead as part of the Department Advisor team to the DMM & MSC Merchandising Cross-Functional Team. You will collaborate at multiple levels within Walmart and Unilever to influence, coordinate, and execute best in class category strategies. The advisor role is not a category advisor role and does not manage the modular relay process but rather as the omni-strategic consultant at a department level.

What You’ll Do

+ Support the Team Lead in building a best-in-class relationship with the Walmart cross-functional team, including owning critical inputs that shape recommendations that deliver against the shoppers needs, Walmart’s KPIs, and that are operationally executable

+ Critical business partner in gathering the inputs to develop an omni shopper strategy recommendation across MSC/center store. This includes deep analytical work to understand the business context, current market and shopper trends, and identifying opportunities that the Team Lead can leverage to create a recommendation for the Walmart DMM and full Merchandising Cross-Functional Team

+ Create detailed category decompositions leveraging appropriate information to include Walmart store & shopper data, Syndicated store and shopper panel data, Voice of the Shopper & Custom Shopper Research

+ Own regular review of Walmart’s digital ecosystem to drive improvement for Walmart across site merchandising and content

+ Manage the team’s database for flawless analysis

+ Organize delegation of workflow on learning plans to maximize Category Management support function collaboration

+ Ensure timely, clear, and robust delivery of category performance reporting, market trends, customer insights, and actionable analytics to Walmart

+ Strategy & Analytics muscle: 4+ years’ experience in Category Management, Customer Management, Insights or Sales Strategy

+ Knowledge of syndicated store & shopper data

+ Knowledge of retailer direct store & shopper data (Retail Link and Luminate)

+ Ability to learn to distill complex data and analysis into simple storytelling

+ Organizational skills to manage databases and process

+ Operational Understanding

+ Understanding of analysis required to get to recommended actions for assortment, location/space, and promotion with understanding of common store operational realities
