Job Description:

The GAF Roofing Academy Instructor is responsible for running labor recruitment and training events on primarily a regional and occasionally a nationwide basis. Seminars include technical, hands-on training for new students entering their roofing career. The Roofing Academy Instructor will teach hands-on installation of GAF Steep Slope (Residential) and Low Slope (Commercial) products and materials, deliver online modules and ensure the overall training curriculum is delivered and continuously enhanced. Upon the successful completion of the program, students will be GAF-Certified and will have the basic skills necessary for apprenticeships in roofing.


70% Deliver both technical and hands-on training seminars to new students entering the Roofing Industry. Seminars may include training in both GAF Steep Slope (Residential) and Low Slope (Commercial) products and materials.

10-20% Assist the Relationship Manager with recruiting duties in select markets.

10- 20% Work with Territory Managers and Certified contractors in select markets to ensure placement opportunities for graduates of the Roofing Academy.

Knowledge of general construction and roofing systems

Roofing Technical Knowledge

Technical knowledge of low slope systems

Hands on construction experience

General knowledge/skills

Knowledge of Microsoft office suite

Ability to travel frequently and efficiently

Ability to instruct others in a classroom setting and webinar setting

Knowledge of basic budget and expense tracking procedures

Ability to plan and prepare training programs and lesson plans

Efficient time management skills

Ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks within time constraints

Ability to work independently and creatively


Required qualification s:

Bachelor’s degree preferred or other relevant construction experience

4+ years construction and or roofing experience is required

Preferred qualifications:

Experience as a trainer or contractor

Bi-lingual Spanish a plus

Military experience a plus

Sales experience is a plus
