Overview:
This position is PART TIME (24 HOURS PER WEEK)
The primary responsibilities of this position is to provide workplace violence (WPV) instruction to participants. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Demonstrate competency by meeting and maintaining WPV instructor status for Mercy designated training curriculum:
Maintains knowledge and skill by teaching on a regular basis and attending instructor updates/meetings as designated.
Teaches a total number of courses as required to maintain instructor status and proficiency.
Acts as a lead or assistant instructor by:
Schedules classes in the learning management system to support learning needs of the organization
Ensures classrooms are properly prepared and ready for course participants at least 1 hour prior to beginning of course.
Follows curriculum that is provided in training course
Teaches according to timeline set by course agenda
Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from a diverse array of co-workers while maintaining composure during all classroom interactions
Keeps Site/Center Coordinator informed of status change (i.e. name, address, telephone #)
Assists in the completion of all course documentation before and after course to include paper and electronic documents.
Maintains positive evaluations of teaching effectiveness evidenced by course evaluation summaries from course participants.

Implements training programs using adult education principles.
Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate educational content in the classroom setting with small groups and individuals.
Uses effective teaching methodologies to meet program objectives.
Uses appropriate audiovisual and/or simulations for program content.
Encourages participant involvement in learning.
Provides an appropriate balance of learning activities (e.g., instruction and practice time, information-sharing opportunities, problem-solving tasks, etc.).
Excellent facilitation, written and oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Must demonstrate leadership quality and be able to work with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
Experience: A minimum of 2 years in healthcare in the following areas: education, patient facing care role, safety and security, psychology or behavioral health.
Required Education: Degree in a related field and/or two years training experience
Preferred Education: Clinical degree in healthcare or current workplace violence instructor
Certifications: Maintain Instructor status for the curriculum hired to teach
