Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$102,600.00 – $169,400.00

What Is the Opportunity?

Under limited supervision, performs expert programing, configuring, and/or analysis for impactful and visible projects. Develops systems integrations and process automation. Works on projects with a DevOps methodology and provides software solutions to reduce the number of manual steps related to maintaining Infrastructure onsite or in the cloud. Acts as subject matter expert across multiple systems and technologies, leveraging technical and business knowledge to drive the planning and execution of complex initiatives. Provides technical leadership on complex projects.

The position may be based 100% remotely or in one of our offices.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

+ Manages the strategic plans and tactical activities for assigned information systems and business unit systems projects.

+ Acts as subject matter expert across multiple applications, systems and technologies leveraging technical and business knowledge to drive the planning and execution of complex initiatives.

+ Responsibilities include performing complex analysis, expert level design, configuration and programming functions for impactful and visible projects.

+ Evaluates systems specifications regarding customer requirements, transforming specifications into cost-effective, technically correct solutions

+ Design, code, test, debug and document for projects and programs.

+ Assesses the technical viability of projects and objectives.

+ Acts as a technology advocate and independently seeks opportunities where technology can be utilized to improve the business.

+ Builds, maintains, and utilizes partnerships across the enterprise ensuring the best use of resources.

+ Provides technical leadership, fosters a team environment, and provides mentorship and feedback to technical resources.

+ Work with Engineering and Operations teams to automate support and end-user self-service processes via systems integrations and process automation

+ Applies knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions within the context of assigned projects.

+ Ensures project team’s work complies with Travelers standards, processes, and protocols.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

+ A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or its equivalent in work experience, and five years of programming/development experience.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge

+ 7+ years of programming/development experience preferred in JavaScript, Python, .NET, C# or similar programming languages or platforms

+ 3+ years of experience working in an Agile methodology

+ Working knowledge of Infrastructure technologies such as Network, Database, Server, Storage etc. preferred

+ Implemented Service Oriented Architecture and web services integrations (SOAP, REST)

+ Proven experience implementing web architected, n-tiered enterprise applications

+ Understanding of working with Linux and Windows environments

+ Experience as a technical lead preferred, providing technical direction to project teams

Job Specific Technical Skills & Competencies

+ 2+ years working in ServiceNow

+ 7+ years of experience with various scripting, development, and data technologies including PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, JSON, YAML, XML etc. to automate processes through CLI and REST API interfaces

+ 5+ years of experience with software development, CI/CD, and source control to deliver automation and configuration management

+ Able to expertly assess, design, develop, configurate and support applications, systems solutions, and interfaces for multiple systems to achieve business and/ or technical requirements.

+ Demonstrates technical mastery for technologies, applications, systems, frameworks, and/or languages and has the ability to influence and/or set technical direction or defect resolution.

+ Fully understands business applications and/or technical system environments in which the system operates.

+ Demonstrates proficiency in business concepts. Demonstrates expert knowledge of applications/systems and concepts.

+ Able to evaluate and leverage pre-existing services and frameworks.
