Job Description

The Mechanical Project Engineer is a 6–12-month contract position working with a pulp and paper client in the Pine Bluff, AR. area.

The Mechanical Project Engineer performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations under the supervision of a Project Manager. The Mechanical Project Engineer provides technical management assistance on projects. The Mechanical Project Engineer may assist in budgeting, man-powering, scheduling, and forecasting projects as directed by the Project Manager. The Mechanical Project Engineer may be assigned small projects to manage with minimum supervision from the Project Manager.

• The Mechanical Project Engineer will coordinate the installation of mechanical equipment or facility systems.
• Assist in the development and scope of day-to-day projects.
• Analyze equipment specifications and performance requirements for the utilized in existing manufacturing or processing facilities.
• Determine the feasibility of designing and implementing new equipment or modifying existing facilities while considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
• Provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations that affect long-range plant production processes.
• Work with maintenance and operations to troubleshoot equipment and process problems, providing technical support to resolve them.
• Lead and guide project work with an emphasis on pump and piping systems, fan and blower systems, and civil/structural steel systems.
• Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical support.
• Research and analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate facility process applications’ installation and maintenance requirements.
• Specify system components or modify equipment systems to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
• Research, design, evaluate, install, and support mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet the mills’ requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
• Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations for resolution to maintenance supervision and crews.
