ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Director of Sales & Events at the Shreveport Convention Center/Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana. Under direction of the General Manager, the Director of Sales & Events primary responsibilities include the following functions in accordance with ASM policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities ? Hires, trains, and supervises sales and event service staff. ? Supervises and provides support to Sales & Events Managers and other departments. ? Develops sales contracts and addendums and monitors compliance ? Provides on-going support and service to existing clients. ? Identifies and implements sales goals and objectives. ? Prepares creative Marketing and Sales Plan. ? Prepares statistics, reports, and budget presentations for General Manager. ? Represents the facility at all industry-related Trade Shows. ? Creates, presents and attends bid presentations in collaboration with hotel and/or CTB ? Develops and manages marketing budget and media placement. ? Ensures successful event coordination activities by supervising and training Event Coordinator / Managers. ? Plans, organizes, and assigns all day-to-day work assignments for event coordinator. ? Research, reviews, and recommends equipment, materials and supplies required in providing event services and planning. ? Coordinates inside or outside service needs with food and beverage, decorator and other vendors. ? Coordinates with marketing department all media entry into the building before, during or immediately following events. ? Coordinates with all departments as needed to manage events ? Prepares Event Services departmental and estimated revenues. ? Maintains the proper image and generates positive public relations with patrons and staff. ? Works extended/irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. ? Prepares schedules and assigns events to the Event Managers. ? Meets with potential clients, advises them on the facility requirements, and negotiates sales of additional services. ? Works with internal service partners to provide quality service to customers. ? Serves as liaison for all facility clients to ensure highest level of customer service for all external service providers. ? Manages meetings, tradeshows, conventions, and conferences contracted at the facility. ? Prepares annual budget for department. ? Prepares reports of monthly calendar (21 day) and Event Overviews for distribution ? Coordinates and conducts weekly production meetings with all staff ? Coordinates and conducts pre-con meetings as needed. ? Develops policies and procedures for the Event Services Department and monitors their compliance. ? Establishes new standards of customer service by working with departments in the facility. ? All other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises Sales and Events Managers and Coordinators in the Sales &Event Services Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASMGlobal’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Education and/or Experience B.S. in Hotel Management or related field 3-5 years Event Management experience in Convention Center or related venue 1-3 years supervisory experience desired . Skills and Abilities * Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required * Ability to effectively supervise staff * Ability to prioritize multiple projects * High aptitude for figures and advanced writing skills * Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic * Excellent negotiation techniques Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of computers. Mastery knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoints is required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations ? No certifications are required. Other Requirements ? Ability to adjust work schedule to coincide with events ? Ability to travel required ? Ability to travel extensively via air and auto required ?
