Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced, proactive engineering manager with proven leadership skills.  The Engineering Manager can expect to work on many projects at the same time, build and manage diverse teams of engineers from different disciplines, formulate and execute strategies, and coordinate with other managers.  Primary responsibility is to ensure our manufacturing lines and integrated product teams receive exceptional engineering support.

A successful candidate will have exceptional foresight, great communication skills, working knowledge of different engineering disciplines and how they relate to one another, and an aptitude for managing risk.  Ideal candidates will have experience in the defense industry and pyrotechnic/energetic product manufacturing.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Build, develop, and manage a team of manufacturing engineers, process engineers, and engineering technicians.
  • Balance engineering workload with Operations department priorities and collaborate with other functional departments as required to ensure manufacturing lines are adequately supported, including during night and weekend shifts.
  • Manage a collection of engineering projects to ensure on-time completion and that they meet stakeholder objectives.
  • Provide guidance for implementation of new manufacturing lines, processes, and equipment.
  • Uses basic principles of science, engineering and mathematics to aid in solving technical problems in the Operations/Engineering environment.
  • Foster an environment of Continuous Improvement.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, operating procedures, engineering analyses, and test reports.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Supervisor.
  • Understands and lives by Armtec’s ethics and business conduct policies.


  • Must be well organized, detail oriented, knowledgeable of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Must be available outside of normal working hours to resolve issues that occur during night and weekend shifts. At times, this will require on-site presence.
  • Experience with Creo (Pro/E), CAD file management software, or other CAD software a plus.
  • Experience with MS Project and Viseo a plus.
  • Good communication skills, superior technical writing skills.
  • Must show an outstanding degree of integrity, judgment, organization, planning, initiative, and flexibility.
  • Must be able to work calmly and reasonably under pressure from demand for production and other exigencies.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated sense of responsibility and analytical skills.
  • Lifting materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Walking up and down steps, between buildings as the situation warrants.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline required. Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business or similar preferred.
  • 10-15 years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering job setting with 5 years’ experience in a supervisory management role preferred.
  • Experience in a DOD manufacturing environment, pyrotechnics/energetics processing preferred.

Work Hours

4 Day/10 Hour Weekend Schedule.  Thursday-Sunday.  Must be flexible for alternative schedule and overtime work.
