Job Details:

The Environmental Intern will support various Environmental corporate groups by participating in completion of specific projects and will work with Environmental Operations team members on selected tasks to gain a broad understanding of Tyson plant level operations. The goal of this position is to establish a pool of potential candidates who are familiar with Tyson and have an appropriate educational background for future positions within the company. This position is intended to provide the Environmental Intern with the following experiences: completion of meaningful work, either as an individual or as part of a team; exposure to a professional work environment; regular interaction with a supervisor; practical experience in the food industry; the opportunity to self-evaluate personal strengths, with opportunities for further development; and development of workplace competencies. Work will be assigned by an Environmental director or designee with tasks dependent on specific needs at that time. Potential assignments will be commensurate with the intern’s educational background and career goals.


Education: A candidate for the Environmental Intern program must have completed their sophomore year at an accredited college or university and be in the process of completing an undergraduate degree, or working on their graduate degree, preferably in the field of engineering, biology, or other science.

Experience: Previous work experience in a professional setting preferred.

Computer Skills: Computer skills are a prerequisite. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) preferred.

Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Travel: Up to 2 times per month

Special Skills: Must be a self-starter, function as part of a team, and exhibit sound analysis and judgment. Interest in the Environmental Field preferred.
