Humana is seeking a Senior Application Architect! We are looking for a strong individual to be an active part of a high growth organization. You will be involved in multiple Provider projects while learning cloud transformation. For this exciting position we need an individual with high levels of technical and leadership skills to do proactive work partnering with development teams to ensure projects launch with Operational Excellence. The Senior Application Architect will work with our vendor team and associates to support and maintain the provider application family. They will work with the team to ensure new development for these application meet our operational excellence requirements and align with the enterprise architecture direction and standards. The Senior Application Architect work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.


The Senior Application Architect performs technical trouble shooting on complex issues to give guidance to other team members along with educating and enforcing Humana standards . Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Responsible for providing guidance and support to other team members using best practices and following enterprise standards. Lead the Operational Excellence initiative by partnering with our development teams to ensure system stability, data integrity, and performance. This will require participation on development projects and assure that the Ops Excellence and 110 plug requirements are met.

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and/or 10+ years design, development, and testing of software applications

+ Experience with Microsoft TFS, Mainframe, .Net, Java/Documentum

+ Demonstrates technical curiosity, strategic thinking in design and implementation

+ Prior project architect and/or team lead experience

+ Open systems development experience

+ Excellent communication and negotiation skills

+ Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Additional Information

+ Healthcare background is preferred

Humana and its subsidiaries require vaccinated associates who work outside of their home to submit proof of vaccination, including COVID-19 boosters. Associates who remain unvaccinated must either undergo weekly negative COVID testing OR wear a mask at all times while in a Humana facility or while working in the field. Every associate and contractor who work inside a Humana facility or in the field, regardless of vaccination status, must complete a daily health screening questionnaire.

Work-At-Home Requirements

+ WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

+ A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25×10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.

+ Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.

+ A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
