The College of Arts, Sciences and Education (CASE) at Texas A&M University-Texarkana is seeking an outstanding candidate at the visiting assistant professor rank for a one-year appointment in our CACREP-accredited counseling program to begin work August 15, 2022.

The search for a full-time tenure track position in counseling is planned for the 2022-2023 academic year. The successful visiting assistant professor candidate will be favorably considered for the tenure track position with a complete application and successful performance. In addition, the year of service at the visiting assistant professor rank may be counted towards tenure eligibility.


The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty across all disciplines to promote the mission of the university as well as:

+ Teach three courses during each long semester at the master’s level in Counseling and Psychology. Courses include, but are not limited to, Introduction to Counseling Services, Human Sexual Behavior, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Practicum.

+ Serve on departmental, college, and university committees by contributing to program curriculum and course development, participating in annual program assessments and undergraduate and graduate outreach, and recruiting events, and advising students.


Minimum Qualifications

+ Ph.D. in counseling or counselor education from a regionally accredited institution, or ABD at time of application (if ABD, completion of Ph.D. must be shown prior to appointment).

Preferred Qualifications (any rank)

+ An established record of advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and/or service.

+ Specialty in counselor education with extensive experience in internship supervision.

+ Doctorate in counseling from a CACREP-accredited program at a regionally accredited institution.

+ Documented success of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.

+ Experience in web-enhanced or web-based instruction.

+ Evidence of scholarship with publications and research agenda.

+ Experience in engaging undergraduate and Master’s-level students in research and/or other scholarly activities.

+ Active membership in professional organizations.
