The Corporate Counsel assists in the legal representation of the Cooperative and manage such legal representation as directed by the Assistant General Counsel. This position presents the opportunity to work alongside peers who are versatile, enthusiastic, and continuing to strive to push AECC and our mission forward. 

 


Responsibilities

 

Maintains familiarity with laws, rules, regulations and current developments associated with OSHA, DOT, and other workplace safety regulatory bodies and requirements.
Assists, as directed, with land acquisition, disposition, and landowner disputes and other property issues.
Assists, as directed by the Assistant General Counsel, with contracting, finance and other transactional business negotiations and matters.
Regularly reviews current developments in the law which may affect the Cooperative and its members; assists as directed, in analyzing legal issues, researching law and providing advice in areas impacting upon the Cooperative and its members.
Provides legal advice upon request to other Divisions within the Cooperative.
Assists, as directed, with the activities of Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc., particularly for the Utility Sales and Services Division.
As directed, provides informational or substantive legal assistance to the members of the Cooperative through their general managers, staff, or legal counsel.
The ability to handle multiple projects with overlapping and demanding deadlines.
Assists, as directed, in conducting litigation on behalf of the Cooperative or monitoring the conduct of such litigation by outside legal counsel.
Handles stress effectively and works well with others.

 


Minimum Qualifications

 

Juris Doctorate, from accredited US law school with excellent academic credentials.
At least five (5) years' total related experience.
Licensed to practice law in Arkansas.
Superior analytical abilities and dispute/conflict resolution skills.
Strong business orientation and excellent judgment in balancing risk-taking with stated objectives, combined with unquestioned integrity.
Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and positively influence others across disciplines and workgroups to achieve high-value performance.
Proactive and dynamic with the demonstrated process and continuous improvement orientation, particularly on legal process and forms harmonization.
This position is eligible for remote work, consistent with Cooperative Teleworking Management Guidelines.
