Department's Website:https://ualr.edu/faclitities/Summary of Job Duties:The Director of Planning and Construction is responsible for the planning, development, and accomplishment of campus construction and renovation projects. This involves coordination with various university departments and committees, architects and consulting engineers, and various construction firms. This position will also work with other facilities department directors to plan, develop, and implement capital renewal and maintenance initiatives. This position is responsible for the management of assigned skilled trade maintenance shops. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.Qualifications:
Required Education &/or Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field;
A minimum of 5 years of experience in architecture, facilities management, or construction management.
Preferred Education &/or Experience:
An MBA or similar graduate degree;
Experience working in a college or university environment;
Experience working in a Physical Plant, Facilities Management, or similar environment;
Registered/licensed professional architect.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Participate in all planning activities regarding the development of university facilities; Manage all aspects of new construction and renovation projects, including cost estimating, client meetings, project development, design, and oversight of construction;
Meet with Facilities Management teams to conduct reviews of proposed work to be done on campus; Meet with clients to determine the scope of new projects; Develop meeting agendas; Provide meeting notes and regular updates to clients;
Review all plans and specifications for accuracy, completeness of data, and compliance with existing codes, university standards, and requirements;
Analyze and direct construction-related action on behalf of the University and as requested by Facilities Management teams and end-users; conduct site visits to observe work in progress meets University expectations; keep accurate project records and prepare reports as required;
