Department's Website:https://mechanical-engineering.uark.edu/index.phpSummary of Job Duties:The Post Doctoral Fellow will conduct research primarily in neural stem cell engineering, tissue engineering, and organ-on-a-chip using advanced materials, coatings, 3D-printed scaffolds, or laser processed surfaces. In addition, the Post Doctoral Fellow is expected to write proposals to secure external funding, write journal papers, mentor a team of graduate and undergraduate researchers, and supervise research facilities to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the lab and equipment. This position is for two or three years based on annual performance reviews, with the possibility of further extension.Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or related fields from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of employment
Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: cell culture, tissue engineering, organ-on-a-chip design and fabrication, biological and materials characterization, laser processing, 3D metal printing
Peer-reviewed publications in areas listed above
Two to three years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
Neural stem cell culture
Using microelectrode arrays and associated data analysis
Biomedical imaging using a confocal microscope
Other advanced imaging techniques in biological studies
Experience with microfluidics
Experience with laser processing
Experience with metal 3D printing
