Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Lead will manage pre-production quality across multiple product categories and troubleshoot quality issues while partnering with cross-functional teams. This role will collaborate with Development, Regional Quality Assurance, and factories on new innovative product launches to ensure in-line SOPs, visual defect guides, and tolerances are established prior to the production start date. The Lead will be responsible for providing quality coverage and training for domestic manufacturers, including the certification of factory auditors, completion of manufacturing assessments, and implementation of corrective action plans.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Communicate UA standards and inspection results to internal and external partners

• Conduct manufacturing assessments and request, review, and approve corrective action plans

• Train and certify factory auditors

• Assist with local Distribution House auditor training, as needed

• Manage pre-production quality issues for multiple product categories

• Assist internal partners with testing needs

• Identify potential production issues, establish production tolerances, and collaborate with Regional Teams prior to production

• Create SOPs, Product Standards, and/or Best Practices, as needed, based on recommendations to improve production efficiency and product quality

• Build Voice of the Consumer reports quarterly, and as requested by internal partners

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

• Ability to work cross-functionally

• Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects with a sense of urgency

• Must have superior written and verbal communication skills

• Must have excellent problem-solving skills to identify the root cause and provide potential solutions

• Knowledge of garment, accessory, and/or footwear construction

• Knowledge of finished product and/or material testing, including ISO/ASTM/AATCC methods, is a plus

Education And / Or Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel/Textile Design, Engineering, or related field

• 5-7 years of quality-related experience in the apparel and/or footwear

• Experience in product development, technical design, and/or manufacturing is a plus

Other Requirements

• Travel: 5-10% of the year

• Proven proficiency with a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software (Microsoft Office).

Work-life integration: This position will be on-site in Baltimore, Maryland 3 days per week. The remaining days will be remote at home.
