Job Description


This position is temporarily located in Jacksonville, Arkansas (2424 Marshall Road Jacksonville, AR). It will be relocated to our new Headquarters building (5800 Ranch Drive, Little Rock, AR). We anticipate the relocation to occur in the second half of 2021.



The Internal Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for identifying the mortgage needs of our members and recommends appropriate financial solutions according to Arkansas Federal Credit Union's standards of excellence.  The Internal Mortgage Loan Officer will be provided leads from several sources and will also be responsible for facilitating outbound call campaigns.  The Internal Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for tailoring services to meet the individual needs of each borrower and escorting them through the mortgage loan process.




  1. The Mortgage Loan Originator, Mortgage Loan Processor, Mortgage Loan Underwriter, and Mortgage Loan Closer/Shipper will each do their part to meet our commitment to the member to have all loan requests processed and closed within the designated time frame.
  2. Originate purchase and refinance loans by responding to company-provided leads in a timely manner from: internet, direct mail campaigns, referrals, or other marketing campaigns.
  3. Proactively makes outbound calls to consumers who have inquired about our lending products through multiple channels as well as following up with prospects from Marketing lists and/or ongoing campaigns.
  4. Meet and maintain individual productivity and sales standards as established by management.
  5. Coordinate with members using their preferred method of contact (i.e. face-to-face, phone, e-mail, etc) to collect required data and documentation, as required by DU and underwriting.
  6. Identify an appropriate loan product using the member's total financial situation and financial goals.
  7. Assist processing team in obtaining necessary information/documentation to close loans in a compliant and timely manner.
  8. Communicate with borrower, realtors, and third parties as necessary to keep all parties informed for the duration of the process.
  9. Stay informed of developing trends in the mortgage industry.
  10. Develop working knowledge of credit union services, policies, procedures, and government regulations concerning mortgage lending.
  11. Contribute to team efforts and perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
  12. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
