Title: Associate Category Management Manager, Walmart

Work Location: Bentonville, AR

Background & Purpose of the Job:

The Associate Category Management Manager performs a valuable role in building a strong partnership with Walmart by providing strategic, consultative category guidance and leadership to grow a strategic growth category, as category advisor. This position will conduct high quality analysis and synthesis of multi-source data to derive insight, while leveraging effective communication & influencing to orchestrate action within the operational realities of Walmart’s environment.

+ You’re a story teller: You will have access to one of the industry’s most-robust data sources to turn insights into action by providing differentiated thought leadership delivered through simplified stories, to gain acceptance and adoption of category strategies.

+ You’re a strategy specialist: You’ll integrate multiple sources of insight to define where to play and how to win over the short and long term. You’re able to develop plans for execution and engagement with appropriate customer contact points, timing, & content based on industry research and Unilever knowledge

+ You’re a visionary: Figuring out problems with limited direction doesn’t faze you. You have the intuition to anticipate issues and opportunities by elevating analyses beyond reporting to develop and translate insight into retail action

+ You’re a dot connector: You will penetrate multiple cross-functional teams and the customer to define priorities, objectives, and successfully influence action plans, specific to Walmart’s business plans.

+ You’re an innovator: You have a healthy dissatisfaction for the status quo and through access to cutting edge capabilities and tools, you will set a constant eye on the future to garner insights and develop solutions that drive incremental growth for Walmart and Unilever.

+ Provide strategic omnichannel category consulting, including strategy health assessments, deep dives into the most valuable shopper, need states, and shifting demand, to inform future strategic direction for Walmart.

+ Deliver fully integrated consumer, category, and market insight to guide Walmart’s strategic choices and tactical actions, leading to market share growth.

+ Develop and foster, through timely and professional communication, business relationships with Walmart key contacts that establish Unilever as lead source for all category strategy needs

+ Responsible for providing Category Management reporting, trend analysis, customized customer reports, strategy blueprints, and special project work directly to Walmart Merchandising

What You’ll Need To Succeed:

+ Bachelor’s Degree required

+ Minimum 3 years of experience in Category Management, Insights, or Sales Strategy

+ CPG experience required; Walmart experience strongly preferred

+ Experience penetrating, persuading, and influencing internal & external touchpoints through clear, cogent, and concise communication

+ Expertise in linking analytics via traditional data sources with cutting edge capabilities and tools to develop insights into action

+ Capability to develop and influence strategy at both retailer and manufacturer, at management level positions

+ Strong understanding of marketing, sales, shopper insights, corporate strategy, and retailer strategy , operations, and planning

+ Extensive knowledge of syndicated data sources (Nielsen, IRI, Household Panel, Loyalty Card Data)

+ Excellent communication, planning, analytical skills required. Strong PowerPoint, Excel, and presentation skills
