Job Description

St. Jude is looking for a Director of Applications who can work collaboratively with process owners, administrative departmental leadership and IS staff to promote the effective use of information technology and to maximize the value received from technology investments specific to our administrative and financial applications. This will be vital as St. Jude is in the process of implementing Workday to replace our Lawson system across all administrative departments. This position will have responsibility for Workday from an Information Services perspective and will work closely with leaders from Human Resources, Financial Services and Materials Management to design and implement Workday so that it will meet the needs of St. Jude. Currently the team of 15 FTE’s and roughly 10 consultants is made up of three Team Leads and a mixture of various levels of application analyst and technical experience and expertise. The team is responsible for supporting approximately 20 custom .net applications and 50 vendor-provided applications. In order to be successful in this role, the individual will need to successfully build relationships with both internal customers and external vendor partners, provide excellent customer service, and take a proactive approach to issues and tasks. + Provide leadership to staff for priority setting, resource utilization, continuous performance improvement, overall project management methodologies, and strategic planning

+ Proactively seeks to improve services to better serve the department’s internal and external customers

+ Works collaboratively with process owners, departmental leadership and IS staff to promote the effective use of information technology and to maximize the value received from technology investments

+ Directs the operating and capital budget processes, as well as long term planning processes

+ Bachelor’s degree is required

+ Bachelor’s degree in management information systems or administrative/financial specialty is preferred

+ Master’s degree preferred

+ Ten (10) years progressive experience in the support and implementation of systems, including at least five (5) years in IT management required

+ Experience in a health care environment preferred

+ Experience managing budgets required

+ Experience negotiating contracts is preferred
