Currently, we are looking for a Mechanical Design Specialist to join the ArcBest Technologies team. The Mechanical Design Specialist uses CAD/CAM software to support innovative solutions to business problems. This position works with robotics and mechanical engineers to create and update CAD models and to create g-code using CAM software.

Your contribution may include:

  • Create CAD models and drawings.
  • Meet and communicate with mechanical engineers, robotics engineers, and fabrication shop personnel to complete projects.
  • Manage engineering change revision process.
  • Support procurement by providing current drawings as required.
  • Create g-code for CNC equipment and provide technical support for CNC operations.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
  • Support the ArcBest and its subsidiaries on technical and strategic initiatives.
  • Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

As a Mechanical Design Specialist, you will be a member of the ArcBest Technologies Technology Research and Development team in Fort Smith, AR. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.

Education: Associate degree in CAD, engineering, or related field.

Experience: Strong experience in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor. Experience with 3D Printing, manual machining, or CNC/Manual machining preferred

Computer Skills: Proficient in entire suite of Microsoft programs, and able to learn new systems quickly.

Certifications: SolidWorks certification preferred.

Other Requirements: Understanding of organization, behavior, business practices, and inter-connectivity within ArcBest and its subsidiaries. Ability to work independently, offer direct and factually based recommendations, conform easily based on shifting priorities, and take an unbiased approach to work.
