ROLE SUMMARY:

Global Medical Director Xeljanz Gastroenterology (MD)

The Global Medical Director Xeljanz Gastroenterology will report to the Vice President, Xeljanz Medical Lead. The Director will join and become an integral part of the Global Medical Xeljanz Gastroenterology team, a dynamic international team of colleagues with expertise in gastroenterology who are driven by a passion to address the unmet need of patients. The director will serve as an expert in the Xeljanz Gastroenterology data and as a disease area subject matter expert. The director will lead the execution of evidence and insight generation as well as subsequent interpretation and dissemination activities for the safe and effective use of Xeljanz.The Global Medical Director Xeljanz Gastroenterology will lead with integrity, and be a role model for medical professionalism and scientific excellence.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Global Medical Director Xeljanz Gastroenterology will partner cross-functionally with medical teams, health and value functions, clinical development, legal, compliance and commercial teams to execute activities supporting Xeljanz Gastroenterology.The Global Medical Director Xeljanz Gastroenterology will collaborate directly with country medical teams to understand major unmet medical needs and medical environment including HCP and patient perspective, regulatory and access dynamics at the country level and integrate needs and insights to co-create a global medical plan.

Demonstrate deep data and disease area expertise for Xeljanz and Gastroenterology, respectively

Ensure evidence generation and dissemination strategies and plans are developed and executed in alignment with the Xeljanz Scientific Narrative

Lead insight generation activities including advisory board meetings

Support or lead evidence generation activities including independent research, clinical and research collaborations, and Pfizer non-interventional and interventional studies including post-hoc data generation

Lead internal data interpretation and alignment activities

Lead evidence dissemination and education activities including scientific publications and scientific exchange

Support development and execution of internal medical training curriculum in collaboration with the I&I Medical Affairs Capabilities group

Manage internal I&I Medical Affairs communication platform

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

MD required, board certification or extensive Gastroenterology experience preferred

Subject matter expertise and experience in specific therapeutic area (Gastroenterology), especially clinical / patient care experience, is required

Research experience and scientific acumen is required

Cross functional effectiveness

Leading effectively in a matrix

A minimum of three years industry experience preferred

Experience in Medical Affairs preferred

Clinical trial experience a plus

Launch experience a plus

Above-country experience preferred and international experience a plus

Regulatory and/or clinical development experience a plus

Proven track record of ability to work successfully with cross-functional colleagues in a matrix team setting across countries and internationally with diverse colleagues

Very strong communications and relationship building capacity and ability to listen, understand and integrate country and local needs

Fluency in written and spoken English required

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
