Department's Website:http://fulbright.uark.eduSummary of Job Duties:The Ceballos Lab within the Department of Biological Sciences in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville invites applications for the position of Field Technician. The Field Technician will be generally responsible for carrying out duties in support of field work undertaken by the principal investigator (i.e., Dr. Ceballos) during sampling expeditions both within the United States, U.S. territories, and foreign countries (predominantly in South America, Asia, and Europe).

 

The Field Technician will be responsible for: preparing and testing sampling equipment prior to travel; packaging equipment and supplies for sampling expeditions; setting up and operating equipment on-site; labeling, organizing, and properly storing field samples for shipment back to laboratory facilities; on-site pre-processing of water, sediment, soil, and tissue samples as required for safe delivery to laboratory facilities; cleaning, maintenance, and repair of field equipment; and, other related duties.Qualifications:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

An associate's degree in engineering technology, biotechnology, or related field or equivalent work experience (and progress toward a degree) is required as a minimum

A working knowledge of the Spanish language is required

A valid Passport is required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Work experience with mechanical and electrical systems (gas-powered generators, water pumps, flow meters, pipe fittings)
