The IT Windchill Support expert is responsible for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), supporting the Windchill PLM system and its related applications (e.g., Creo, Tibco, PDMLink, ThingWorx/Navigate, etc.) across all phases of program design, development, testing, and operations. This role includes administering, configuring, customizing, and developing capabilities associated with the PLM system. In addition, this expert shall implement and maintain processes that leverage the toolset’s capabilities, integrate Windchill with third-party applications, develop reports, and ensure the ongoing health of the system. It also includes working with internal customers and IT partners (i.e., external providers) for service delivery.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Working under limited general direction:

+ 15% – Configures Windchill, object rules, workflows, workgroups, etc. and other Windchill-related modules and systems

+ 20% – Troubleshoots Windchill technical issues, including installation, deployment, configuration, server-side, and CAD client-side issues

+ 20% – Interfaces both internally and with vendor technical channels on bugs, fixes, and other issues and communicates the resolutions to users

+ 10% – Monitors relevant business data from Windchill using Windchill Business Analytics or other reporting strategies, and takes appropriate action based on results

+ 20% – Supports PLM system administration and development tasks as required, including system upgrade, test validation, custom application development, and end user support (e.g., requirements gathering, analysis).

+ 15% – Manages and provides oversight for IT vendors that are part of PLM service delivery, including cost drivers


Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or Information Systems and a minimum of six (6) years of experience in Information Technology (preferred) or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Minimum 5 years of experience installing, configuring and customizing PTC’s Windchill, Creo, PDMLink, ThingWorx/Navigate, and/or Tibco (i.e., PLM)

+ 5+ years of experience in Windchill System Administration

+ 5+ years of experience in Windchill Business Administration

+ 5+ years of experience customizing PLM using Java, JSP, InfoEngine, and Windchill APIs.

+ Ability to install PLM and maintain customizations/configurations created by Aerojet Rocketdyne

+ Experience with a cloud-based infrastructure

+ Ability to backup and restore Windchill system and vaults

+ Ability to set up and administer Windchill access control, segregating data, and vaults based on business program

+ At least one experience installing Windchill’s Single Sign-on capability, integrated with Active Directory

+ Experience with check-in, checkout, and vaulting of Creo models in PLM system

+ Experience with installation and configuration of the Windchill Workgroup Manager to connect desktop Creo and NX systems to PLM

+ 5+ years of experience creating and managing PLM workflows

+ Experience managing PLM organizations, products, libraries, and best practices

+ Experience with Windchill vault structure, technology and management

+ Experience with Oracle and SQL Server installation and maintenance as it pertains to the Windchill backend system

+ Experience upgrading PLM and its associated configurations, customizations, vaults, and databases

+ Experience with Windchill Rehost Utility (cloning systems)

+ Experience with MPMLink

+ Experience with Windchill Visualization Management

+ Experience with Windchill Report Development (Cognos, Query Builder)

+ Demonstrated ability to work independently to resolve PLM issues

+ Experience working with PTC support

+ Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively

+ Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and engineering/manufacturing industry are a plus
