+ General Description

The Core Colocation Services Solutions Engineer will be responsible for providing pre-sales technical expertise to the National Sales Team on standard Colocation Opportunities that are small to medium in size through direct interaction with prospects on calls and when necessary, in-person meetings. ?The successful candidate will be well versed in Colocation environments, including data center infrastructure, and possess the ability to design appropriate architectures that meet customer requirements within budgetary constraints. They will also provide technical expertise to the National Sales Team on Colocation Services Contract Renewals for existing customers.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

+ Attend qualified sales conference calls and, when required, in person meetings (limited travel required) to architect colocation solutions to new prospects with requirements that are less than 500kw in size, and to suggest changes that improve functionality and performance in a consultative manner.

+ Support sales teams nationally by providing technical drawings and designs of colocation solutions along with narratives that support the business impact of our recommendations

+ Keep current on all product offerings and industry trends and technologies

+ Create complete and accurate documentation to deliver to Implementation upon successful closing of an opportunity

+ Create a complete colocation solution design and present solution to potential customers.

+ Provide regional datacenter tours when necessary

+ Perform other duties as required and assigned

+ Supply information transfer to post sale resources

Qualifications

2-5 years B2B Sales and/or support in telecom and/or co-location industry

Experience

+ Must be technical, team oriented, and have a documented path of success and contribution to a growing business in the IT services field

+ Must have the ability to grasp complex technical issues and clearly and simply translate them into non-technical colocation solutions that address and solve the underlying business needs

+ Solid understanding of data center infrastructure technologies, with the ability to match the correct infrastructure to customer requirements and make recommendations toward optimization and changes where appropriate

+ Must be detail oriented, organized, driven, and have excellent communication skills.

+ High-energy individual with a positive attitude, good teamwork skills and ability to have excellent customer rapport.

+ Persistent but pragmatic: willing to be flexible and adaptable to change.

+ Strong working knowledge of data center infrastructure components

+ Strong working knowledge of x86 enterprise server hardware and operating systems such as Windows & Linux

+ Knowledge of SAN’s and designing storage to meet both performance and size requirements.

+ Knowledge of Firewalls, Load Balancers, Switches and other networking components

+ Knowledge of data center security best practices

+ Understanding of Disaster Recovery best practices, with the ability to connect specific technical solutions to business impact in a two-site colocation failover scenario.

+ Credible – customers and prospects feel the SE truly understands their needs and is able to understand their questions and offer plausible colocation solutions.?

+ Self-motivated and accomplishment-oriented – possesses the drive and determination to succeed.

+ Quick on feet – can address the challenges presented during sales conversations and turn around solutions and documentation quickly.

+ Easily adaptable to a fast-paced business environment

Physical Requirements

+ Ability to work in an office environment

+ Ability to work remotely when required with sufficient workspace, cell phone connectivity, and an adequate Internet connection.

+ Basic physical requirements for computer skills Ability to use the computer keyboard and mouse for extended periods of time

Work time

Some afterhours networking and customer interaction may be required

Travel

Some travel may be required

Base Pay Range : Annualized salary range offered for this position is estimated to be $70,000-$85,000/yr. , however, the actual pay range depends each candidate’s experience and qualifications.
