ROLE SUMMARY

This role will lead integration of the most important Business Development transactions undertaken by the Pfizer enterprise. It will also be responsible for enhancing Pfizer's integration capabilities and maintaining a broad, global, cross-functional integration community.These responsibilities span Pfizer's R&D, Commercial, Manufacturing and supporting function organizations. This role will be specifically responsible for managing and/or supporting Pfizer's integration and transition efforts for the most important acquisitions, divestitures, alliances and major collaborations. In the past, these programs have included the acquisitions of Wyeth, Hospira, Medivation, Anacor and Array, to name a few. Some key divestitures/separations have included those of Zoetis (Animal Health), Pfizer Nutrition, Hospira Infusion Systems, Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, and Upjohn (incl. the combination with Mylan).

For Pfizer's largest and most complex deals, responsibilities include: leading direct day-to-day program planning, implementation oversight and, later, progress tracking and metrics reporting. Leadership responsibility starts before Final Management Approval, and ends with the formal close of a specific deal's period of integration implementation, transition services contracts and/or stabilization of on-going alliance / collaboration activities. For smaller deals approved by the Business Development Committee (BDC), this requires leadingand providing coaching and standardized tools to help business-based deal leaders navigate the integration process.

 

Leading these projects, this role focuses on managing and driving operational and financial goals through:

identification of key value drivers and operational risks

aligning stakeholders to a shared understanding of these value drivers and risks - and correct prioritization of actions to realize value and manage the operational risks

specifying financial and operating metrics that would evidence deal success

monitoring and measuring progress against goals and metrics

 

This role willlead, build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, both within and outside of individual deals. This role most frequently works across company boundaries, tending to become the "face of Pfizer" to selling leaders/colleagues, to acquired leaders/colleagues and to current leaders/colleagues who are being conveyed. The role requires polish, balance and relentless enthusiasm for serving patients, even when that service is indirect. The role will directly manage, lead and develop two experienced colleagues and will indirectly lead and manage cross-functional colleagues across the company.The role will be the prominent internal and external face and leader for Pfizer's integration capability.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and manage Pfizer's integration / transition processes for specific keys acquisitions, divestitures and alliances

Participate in transaction due diligence processes to identify integration needs early, to support completion of integration templates and begin to craft integration plans

Act as project lead on the cross-functional team to ensure successful integration of the acquired assets into the sponsor Business Unit or Division

Lead and manage several, parallel workstreams simultaneously, spanning functions and levels

Lead and manage business, organization and/or legal entity workstreams independently, across multiple geographies and functions

Define, track and communicate appropriate performance measurements to project team and stakeholders

Resolve, report and escalate issues as needed to the Integration Steering Committee or Pfizer Executive Leadership Team, as needed

Prepare appropriate documentation to close out integration projects and facilitate effective hand-offs

Develop and strengthen Pfizer's "Integration Community" (PIC) - a community of leaders and colleagues from a variety of Business Development, Commercial, R&D and Enabling Functions

Capture, digest and codify for application the experiences, best practices and lessons learned of the community

Oversee the development of new integration tools and processes

Organize external speakers and experts to share practices

Lead and Host the monthly "Integration Community Lunch & Learn" sessions
